Spike On One CPU Core

Looking to see if anyone knows how to solve this. As of recently, I am getting a single-core CPU spike while running Logic. The other cores are virtually unused. It's maxing out core 8 and causing it to overload resulting in "skipping". I have tried freezing all my tracks and that isn't making one bit of difference on that core. I've run so many more demanding sessions in the past, but since updating to Big Sur, nothing but nightmares so I think that may be the culprit. The machine I'm running is: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)/2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7/16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I'm on OS 11.2 and running Logic Pro 10.6.1. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Any chance you have an Instrument Track selected? It puts that Track automatically in "Live Mode" using all the processing power on that Channel Strip on a single core (= single CPU meter). Try to select a different Track and see if the spike goes away.

Logic cannot spread a load of all the Plugins on a single Track over multiple cores.

Here is a screenshot with an Instrument selected (that has tons of Plugins)

And here is the same situation where that Instrument Track is not selected (same amount of Plugins on that Track)

Hope that helps,
