Airplay code?

I am unable to use AirPlay to my AppleTV, because it requires a "code" for "Living Room" which is the location of my TV and AppleTV.

I have no idea about an "AirPlay Code"!

I found this post here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251940494?answerId=253701434022#253701434022

See if the TV configuration allows for AirPlay settings, including allowing access with password.

Or add the TV to the Home in the Home app on an iPhone or iPad. Then configure it for a password, or configure it to not need a password.

In my Settings panel in AppleTV it does say AirPlay "On".

But do not find it helpful either.

I do have the Home App on my iPhone but still couldn't figure out what to do.

My AppleTV always has a message that I am able to access AirPlay to my TV but I do not see instructions how.

In my Settings panel in AppleTV it does say AirPlay "On".

Totally lost!

While what Apple has accomplished/constructed is near miraculous,

it seems I have to be a trained cryptologisty to use!

On AppleTV the AirPlay is turned ON for Everyone, No password required.

On my MBP under Sys. Pref. Display, AirPlay is OFF and cannot be turned on.

In Menu bar on MBP, AirPlay is Off (greyed)and looking for TV (all greyed out and settles on OFF,

[but appears that Living Room HomePod is accessible].)

On my TV screen a code is displayed for my MBP but when I enter it on the AirPlay passcode box

it is always "Incorrect".

Things are further complicated by fact that I have a HomePod located in "Living Room" and indicated it can be activated -- but that won't work because it is a HomePod for music etc., NOT TV.

I have unplugged the HomePod but that does not cause anything to change that is in the direction of activating AirPlay via AppleTV.

I tried to enter TV/AppleTV/AirPlay as accessory on the iPhone Home app but was not successful at any of these.

I am trying to play a streaming broadcast related to "Rent" which plays perfectly on MBP.

It's when I try to play this steam on my TV via AirPlay & Apple TV that I am unable to circumnavigate these intricacies.

So I am stymied still, although your directions seem straight forward.

Addition/Correction:

I now see within the Home app on iPhone, there is an Accessory icon labelled "Living Room Apple TV"

[and separate from Living Room HomePod]).

It is paused but when clicked it switches to "Playing" and can be switched back to "Paused" by clicking it again.

I was unaware of this locus when I was working with options described in the above post (or maybe it did get added when I worked with that as mentioned above about Home app.

I am too tired and confused now to work with this option/added locus and the pieces described in the previous post

[will try tomorrow].

Airplay code?
