iPhone 12 Pro MagSafe Case Issue

Unlike some people, I have no problem charging my iPhone 12 Pro with the MagSafe charger and my MagSafe case in place. My problem is when I am away from the charger and use a lightning cable to charge. The phone charges but it acts wonky. The screen won’t respond, can’t type numbers in to make a call, pages freeze mid scroll and completely stop responding. However, I discovered there is no issue if I take the MagSafe case off while using a cable. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix other than removing the case every time I need to use a cable?

I am very sure it has not always done this because the MagSafe charger is by the bed and only used overnight. I have used an official Apple lightning cable to charge it many times at my desk or in the truck and only recently noticed this issue, perhaps the last few weeks only.

Hi there slhdfw,

It sounds like the screen of your iPhone isn't responding as expected when charging it via USB with the case on. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some guidance.

If you don't notice any issues while the case is removed, then that tells us it's the case itself preventing the screen of your iPhone from responding normally. Have a look at this link to learn more:

If the screen isn’t working on your iPhone or iPad

Cheers.
