"Server not found" in Apple Mail

Hello, I am having continual trouble with the "server not found" dialogue popping up in Apple Mail. With my web helpdesk we have reset my user profile several times and tried port 25 (worked for about three days) and port 465.

Today however I had one email that was refusing to go but in the bottom left of the Mail screen it said "sending 6 of 7 messages". I quit Mail and that went back to just "Sending", though the mail did not send. Is it possible there are ghost messages holding up others?

I'm running a 2019 iMac with Big Sur and I did a clean install just two weeks ago. Help appreciated!

Hi there chiefsub63,

It sounds like some emails aren't being sent as expected from your Mac. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some guidance.

You'll want to start with the suggestions in this support article:

If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac

If that doesn't seem to help, let us know which type of account this is happening with and if any errors appear when clicking on the lightning bolt icon next to the email account in Mail. We'll take a closer look from there.

Cheers.
