can't install 11.2.2

I have attempted to install Big Sur 11.2.2 many times. I've restarted my macbook, I've checked to make sure I have loads of space. It gets as far as 10 minutes left preparing and then my laptop begins making very loud noises from the fan and it will not move any further.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

A few ideas:


  1. Do you have any anti-virus, so-called optimization software or anything like it? If yes, disable them and try again
  2. Try installing in Safe Mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
