Home Sharing from mac to iPhone - library doesn't show up

I want to share my music from MacBook Air to iPhone 7. I have turned on Home Sharing on both devices, they are both on the same wifi network, the OS and music apps are up to date, and in the Music app settings on the phone Home Sharing is checked. But the library does not appear in the Music app. How can I make it work?

Hi there spavio,

From what we can tell, you're unable to share music from your MacBook Air to your iPhone 7 using Home Sharing because the library isn't appearing as expected in the Music app. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some guidance.

To start, did you make sure your computer is authorized to play purchases using your Apple ID? Learn how here:

Authorize or deauthorize your computer for iTunes Store purchases

Also, let's be sure you've checked for updates for your MacBook Air, as well as your iPhone, since some new updates were recently released:

How to update the software on your Mac

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"To see a shared library from a computer on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, you need to be signed in with the same Apple ID as the computer and connected to the same Wi-Fi network." Next, check the steps in the links below to ensure you've set up Home Sharing correctly:

Use Home Sharing to share media from a computer to other devices

We hope this information is helpful. Let us know how it goes.

Cheers.
