New Macbook Air Migration

Have an old Macbook Pro...migrating to new M1 MBAir....Have about 600GB on my Pro to migrate...have 1TB of storage on new device....

Migration told me I didnt have enough storage....apparently there are two separate flash drives in M1 Air not a continuous drive...so it thinks I dont have enough storage.

Is there a work around here...or do I have to delete some of the storage to do this....seems odd that Air can't identify that I really have 1TB of storage???

Migration Assistant Space I am trying to migrate everything from a 1 TB MacBook pro to my new M1 MBP with 4TB. Migration Assistant finds something like 5TB of info on the original MBP, so tells me there is not enough space on the M1. That's impossible isn't it? When I run the storage check on the MBP it says I am using around 960GB. The MBP is running Mojave 10.14.6.

With 64 GB of available space is it time for a new computer? The MacAir 2013 only has a total of 121 GB available space on the hard drive. Since upgrading to Catalina from Mojave, the new OS took up more space than just replacing Mojave, and seems to use sometimes 1GB of space a day without my doing anything on the computer; with 64 GB remaining that only would mean obviously too little remaining in just two months. Is it time for me to purchase a new computer? Do I need to be aware of how much available space is needed if Migration Assistant or other means of moving data from this 2013 to a new (LARGER CAPACITY) Mac?

Mac internal storage My M1 Mac 1Tb HD had 850Gb of data stored on it. To create room I have moved the 380Gb PhotoLibrary to an external SSD. After the move I now have 828Gb of data on the drive. So I moved 338Gb and saved only 22Gb of space. I wonder what has taken its place? I note that other users are occupying 310Gb. On checking their individual data they only seem to have 48Gb. Why the large difference?
