Apple TV app on MacBook Pro keeps freezing

Every time I try to watch a movie on the Apple TV app, it drops the frame rate to a stutter or completely freezes. I’ve actually gotten to the point where I had to restart my computer because the app froze, but couldn’t be cmd q’d out of. It’s an early 2020. I’ve reset the smc multiple times (which is what other articles recommended doing), and my internet is fast enough to play other streaming services or online games without a problem. I don’t know what to do here; my 2015 MacBook Pro never had these problems, so I’ve never dealt with this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try force quitting from the menu bar - TV - Quit TV then restart the Mac
