The “new line” dictation command does not work on Big Sur.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, did you ever find a fix?

I saw this was an issue in 2019. Unfortunately, all suggested fixes I’ve found appear to work with Catalina.

In macOS 11.2.3, the repertoire of Voice Control commands does not include "newline." There is, however, "Press Return Key.'

When one reviews the Accessibility > Voice Control > Commands… listing of available commands, the new line command is missing there, and also missing in the list of commands shown by saying show commands.

A moment ago, I dictated a short sentence followed by a full stop, and the spoken command new line and Pages v10.3.9 on macOS 11.2.3 dutifully applied the new line. So it works, but I believe that the words must be spoken with a 1-second pause between them. I don't believe it can handle newline run together.

Thanks for the response. That’s definitely useful info. Unfortunately, Dictation is a separate system that, so far as I can tell, can’t be used while Voice Control is active. To make things more confusing, “new line” is listed as a valid Dictation command for Big Sur here: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/commands-for-dictating-text-on-mac-mh40695/mac
