17" ADC Apple Studio Display to iMac

I have a vintage 17" ADC Apple Studio Display I'd like to use as a second monitor to my imac. I've tried every adapter combo I could think of. USB-C TO DVI. Micro USB to USB. USB-C and Micro USB to Micro USB. The monitor comes on for a few seconds then goes into an off-on briefly in a loop. Any ideas before I give up?

I just updated to Monetary 12.5.1 and now the iMac is not recognizing the connection any longer. I'm using a Display Port to USB-C cable, which was working very well -- up until this more recent Apple update. Any suggestions how to get the second monitor connected would be appreciated!!

Use iMac as second monitor with MacBook Pro 2020 I have a MacBook Pro 2020 (macOS Catalina) and want to use my older iMac (2011, macOS Sierra) as a second Monitor. I've connected the two devices with a Thunderbolt cable and Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter (to connect it to my MacBook). When I press cmd + F2 (or cmd + FN + F2) nothing happens, also the monitor isn't recognized when I go to my monitor settings. Any advice?
