airpods pro - echo for other caller...re-pair every other day?

I have seen a lot of folks asking about the airpods pro and the issue where the caller gets an echo and cannot hear your voice. I've really only seen this issue when pairing with the iPhone, so I cannot comment on if it is consistent with other devices. I see that the resolution is typically to re-pair the pods to the iPhone, but I'm having to do this every other day or so. I've also tried switching between noise cancel and transparency mode, but this does not help. Honestly, for as much as these things cost, it is ridiculous that the solution is essentially "reboot" the airpod pros during the middle of a call. What is this...Windows?

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get out of this mode while on the call? Or without needing to re-pair with the phone? Is there an update to the airpod firmware coming to correct this?
