Apple Classroom with ASM

Teachers want to invite/create classes with their students to monitor the device screens. Teachers are on the same wifi network, bluetooth is on, and the problem is students show as "offline" or "authorizing" when viewed from the teacher's iPad of Apple Classroom.

Is there a setting or role in ASM that must be set for it to work on the teacher's end? Currently teachers have their role as "Instructor."
