Apple Classroom Shows Students Offline on Mac app, but online on iPad app

I have a question that all of my searching so far has not been able to answer.

Our school uses managed Macbooks and iPads for teachers, and iPads for students. Apple Classroom used to work perfectly on both devices.

This year however, Apple classroom on the Mac will show all of my synced classes, have all the students in them accurately, but students show as offline. My macbook is connected to the same wifi network as the student iPads and my bluetooth is on.

On my iPad which is again connected to the same Wifi network and has the bluetooth on, students appear online as they normally would. Our IT support has been non-responsive and my searching has not turned up a question similar to this (where it works on the iPad, but students show as offline on the Macbook app).

We use Mosyle system manager, so I'm wondering if it's a configuration setting that is preventing something, but I'm not sure. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi TeacherOfEnglish,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're using Apple Classroom and you're able to see the classes but the students appear as offline.

In this case, we'd recommend that you reach out to Apple Support directly to investigate this further with you. You can find their contact details here: Education Support

Take care!
