Problems connecting to my iCloud email...

I am not able to access my iCloud email and in Settings on the Mac I get the message that iCloud needs some updating. What is going on? I do get the following alert:


I should note that another account that I use for my professional Mac still does work. I am at a loss. Many thanks for your help.

To be clear, I can still log into my appleid account.
