Disabled iPhone 7, and corrupt update error?

My iPhone 7 stopped accepting my passcode after the last update. Now it is disables, but when I plug it up to my MAC (BigSur 11.2.3 with most recent iTunes too), I get the following error while trying to restore and update.

"The software for the iPhone “iPhone” was corrupted during download.

Disconnect and reconnect, then try again.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
