I have a .MOV from my friends iPhone 12. The video looks good until I import into FCP. Now the video is all washed out and looks terrible. Here is the original video. This looks decent. But after I send it to FCP, it changes.

Is there anything I can do? This is a pretty important video that we would like to save.

You have an HDR source clip. You are likely editing it into a SDR timeline.
Go to Effects and find the HDR Tools effect and drop that on the clip in the timeline.
With the clip selected, go to the effects inspector and set Mode to HLG to Rec. 709 SDR:
You'll likely need to do a bit of color adjustment after doing that.

The image in the browser looks correct. The project is set to standard Rec 709, but your material is HDR 2020 HLG. Do what Meg said, use the HDR Tools effect to change the video from HLG to Rec 709. You’ll probably need to use the color correction tools to adjust it further.
Let's start with what computer are you using, what OS, and what version of FCP?
The video is HDR DolbyVision. Post a screenshot of what you're seeing when the clip is in the browser. Make sure the library properties are set to wide gamut.
You need to go to the Effects Browser, search and locate the HDR Tools effect, and then drag that effect to the clip on the timeline (the cursor will change to a plus sign) and release it.
Then, making sure the clip on the timeline is selected, the HDR Tools will appear in the Effects section of the Inspector for the clip.

If you see Effects but not HDR Tools, hover the cursor near the word Effects. The word Show will appear. Click it.
EDIT: I see it now. For some reason it was not showing on my iPhone. My suggestion above is right.
Did you apply the HDR Tools? It looks like an effect has been added. At the right side of the Effects bar the pointer will find a Show/Hide button.
