Optimizing view/resolution when logged in to Microsoft Remote Desktop (to Windows computer) from 2020 27" iMac
I just purchased a new iMac (Retina 5K, 27", 2020; AMD Radeon Pro 5300 4GB) to replace my old iMac (27", late 2013, NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1GB).
My work computer is from late 2019 or early 2020, HP with Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-9500 CPU @3.00 GHz 3.00 GHz. The recommended resolution for our work monitors is 1680x1050.
I log in to my work computer from home through Cisco VPN and Microsoft Remote Desktop. I work from home about half of the time now b/c of Covid.
On my old iMac, the resolution through the remote desktop has never been super crisp, but it was tolerable working for long periods. Here are the settings I've used:
I've matched these settings on the new iMac, and the image is even fuzzier on the new iMac. It is less tolerable. I have tried to match my iMac display settings (light, colour, etc.). On the new iMac, I have also played around with every permutation, changing the color quality, optimize for retina displays, changing graphics interpolation level, etc. I have played around with changing the resolution (not using the default for this display). It always gets even worse.
Any ideas of how to improve this? Or do I have to live with the fuzz? It's not impossible to read, however I think it will lead to eye stain and it makes it seem like I need glasses (I don't wear glasses. When I am reading on my iMac, not through remote desktop, the resolution is crisp and looks great.) thanks.
