Find my iPhone

When using find my iPhone app than selecting help a friend, Why would apple ask for a 2 way verification code for a phone your trying to find? You select help my friend mode so that somebody can use their Apple ID credentials to search for it on your device. However, when you log in apple automatically sends a code to their phone to authenticate the identity. They can’t because that is the exact device that is lost. It also is not giving other options

Hello Huskie144,

We'd be glad to help address your concern. The prompts for security code is expected with their account security type.

The page below goes over more details:

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

"If you're signing in and don’t have a trusted device handy that can display verification codes, you can have a code sent to your trusted phone number via text message or an automated phone call instead."

Ultimately if you can't use a trusted phone number or device you'll need to use these steps on How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password

We hope this helps.

Cheers.
