Battery performance can't get close to many as claimed!

Hi all! Got my M1 Mac Air couple weeks ago, till now can't barely get the 11 - 15 hours usage range claimed by all articles, videos seen so far. Does that mean my unit has a problem? Any similar cases? Or if you can guys are so kind, please share the settings, tricks to boost up battery performance? I'm feeling sort of left out here, thanks all.

I am getting about 7 - 8 hours. I, however, have many things running in the background including OneDrive, iCloud Drive and Time Machine Backups and all on battery power. I do not run my M1 MacBook Air under ideal conditions. I love its processing power and try and use to the point of pushing it. The point that I am attempting to make is that the total battery capacity will depend on the user and his/her method of usage.

If you are getting 11-15 hours that seems acceptably close to the figures Apple quotes for standard test conditions. Remember Apple's published figures only apply for a specified test condition and what you get in the real world will be different. Take a look at Apple's support doc https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/ for some hints about getting longer between charges.
