How to resolve installing Microsoft Word app on older ios devices

If you're using an older ios device that's running 10.3.3 or older, you will not be able to install the Word app, I tried but couldn't find a workaround. The only alternative, which allows you most of the functionality of Microsoft Word, is to log into your office account(Microsoft Account), https://office.live.com/start/Word.aspx, via the Safari app, which will allow you to access, edit, print and save any documents that have been saved to your onedrive.

If you have documents that you have not saved to OneDrive, but want to continue to work on them, you'll need to save them to your OneDrive account. If you've only ever saved your documents to your desktop, open a OneDrive account and upload all the documents you want to save.

That's the only workaround I've been able to find. GL : )

Microsoft’s policy is to only support the two most recent releases of iOS or iPadOS (three most recent for MacOS). So they pull older versions of their Office apps once they are no longer supported.

So your workaround, using the online web versions, is the only option with older versions of iOS, iPadOS, MacOS or Windows and Android for that matter. And even then some very old browser versions won’t work with the online Office apps either.

iOS: Office for iPad® and iPhone® (including Outlook for iOS) is supported on the two most recent versions of iOS and iPadOS. When a new version of iOS or iPadOS is released, the Office Operating System requirement becomes the two most recent versions: the new version of iOS or iPadOS and the previous version.”
