Have an older iMac-Unable to reload OS X-Failed to Eject 'OS X Base Sytem" because it is currently in use

Getting ready to sell my old iMac.

All information has been cleared off but it won't let me reinstall macOS High Serriat goes through the install and then gives me an error "COULD NOT CREATE A PREBOOT VOLUME FOR APFS INSTALL"

Accidently deleted Macintosh HD on Disk Utility - now my mac won't start up Earlier today I was trying to reset my Macbook Pro (2016 model on MacOS Big Sur) to sell and I deleted Macintosh HD from the Disk Utility software thinking that it would reset my mac to factory settings. Now my Mac can't start up and shows a folder with a question mark in it. First Aid does not work for any of the internal options. "Preboot", "Recovery" and "VM" are unmounted every time I go back in to Disk Utility. First Aid for Internal > AppleAPFSMedia does not work and says I need to repair the startup volume by running First Aid from Recovery? Isn't that what I'm doing? When I try re-install MacOS it only shows "Macintosh HD - Data" & "Update" and the installation always fails when reaching the end on either option. Attached is a photo of my Internal disks on Disk Utility. I would appreciate any help, thank you in advance!

How do I reinstall Mac OS X Yosemite on my IMac From 2008 with error message Hey everyone, am here because I’ve seen a lot of people have had this issue and I can’t really seem to find answers but how do I reinstall Mac OS Yosemite? I saw one single person talk about a solution to this that made sense but at the same time I’m confused, so I need the Apple ID and password that originally came with the IMac to redownload or can I use just any Apple ID that’s downloaded OS X? Any help would be greatly appreciated I’ve tried literally everything.

cannot installa mac os x mavericks Hi to everyone, i have a problem to install os X mavericks. When i try to install Mavericks on an iMac 20'' early 2008, the installer asks the id apple, but when i enter the credentials it says that there are wrong, even tough there are correct. What can I do?

Reformat the drive to MacOS Extended (Journaled) & try again, but not to the Base system.

Okay that worked...Thank you! Now...I'm trying to reinstalling the Mac OS X Lion and it attempts to download but then it comes up with the install error: Can't download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X
