Connecting Apple Cinema HD 30" to MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

Hello, this is a follow up to a previous thread:

I just moved from a Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) where I could connect via a Hyper Drive adapter. It works fine. But when I attempted to use the exact same setup with my new 2020 MBP, the Cinema display turns on for about 5 seconds and then turns off. It still shows up as a display, I just can't see anything. Any suggestions on what could be going wrong?
