Podcast app does not Play Next episode in queue.

I’m struggling to understand the Play Next queue in Apple’s native podcast app.

When reaching the end of an episode, rather than advancing to the next episode in my queue, I hear a repeat of the episode just played.

If I have invited this behavior, I’m not sure what I did. I do show other episodes listed in my Play Next queue. The only setting I have adjusted is “Continuous Playback,” which I have toggled off and on with no luck.
