malware message

When I try to print a pdf file from Adobe Acrobat Reader on my MacBook to my HP laser jet printer I get warning message of malware on the printer and it won't allow me to print. And now I'm getting another warning message, something about a backend. I see that others have had this problem back in October 2020. What's going on and how can I get it off my computer. Suggestions please!!!
