VPN connection issue

I have a L2TP/IPsec VPN server set up on a Synology NAS.

I can access all the local network fine if I set "Send all traffic over VPN connection". I do not want to send all traffic over VPN, simply access the local network over VPN.

When "send all traffic" option is unselected, VPN can ONLY access the computer that is set as a "Router" in TCP/IP settings of the VPN connection on Mac. By changing the "Router" IP I can access any computer on the local network, but only one of them at a time.

Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

VPNs are designed to give you a dedicated local area network over the internet.

If your data is trying to communicate outside the VPN network, then it won't get onto your VPN's network. It is either/or

If that does not seem to be the problem, contact the NAS manufacturer and see if they have some means of allowing you to use the VPN.
