My Apple Watch SE is not receiving group chat messages

From what we can tell, you're not receiving group messages on your Apple Watch. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some guidance. 

To start, is this happening with group SMS text messages or with iMessages? "Group SMS messages don’t support multimedia attachments, like photos or videos. All responses in a Group SMS are sent as individual text messages and the recipients can’t see the other responses from the group." Next, "Make sure that your Apple Watch can connect to your iPhone, cellular, or Wi-Fi. To send and receive SMS/MMS from cellular models of Apple Watch, your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular, but your iPhone doesn’t need to be nearby."
