Quicktime Image Sequence 4K aspect ratio 16:9

I am trying to create a timelapse from an image sequence in Quicktime. I have made many videos this way normally just fine. But now recently I have been creating them as 4K and have noticed it is cropping the video at 16:9. Videos that are vertical have a large black bar on the top, where as horizontal videos crop a large amount of the images on the top. Is there a work around for this? (I use QuickTime because its free and simple, so if there are any recommendations for other software, please let me know)

Your images have an aspect ratio of 6048:4032, which is 1.5.

4K video has an aspect ration of 3840:2160, or 16:9, which is 1.7777....

In other words, the video frame proportions are little wider than your images.

So you either get a little "black" on the sides, or you "fill" the frame and in the process cut off a little bit at the top and bottom.

There is nothing here besides simple geometry.

Ok thank you.

Yes you are correct it is. I suppose I have been avoiding “actual size” and choosing 4K as all videos exported in actual size are extremely choppy or jumpy. Not sure how else to explain that, too bad I can’t share an example. Even when I import it into iMovie it doesn’t play smoothly but when I export it from there, it is smooth, however iMovie will only export in 16:9... which is not ideal but I suppose that’s better as I can choose my crop in iMovie versus QuickTime.
