MacBook Pro will not power on. Not sure how old it is . It has four thunderbolt ports two on each side. A friend gave me this laptop to see if I could fix it for him. It was given to him by his old company I have no idea of it’s past or what happened to it to cause the failure. Tried to reset SMC did not work. I am a Windows tech and own some Apple hardware but have never seen this problem.

You first have to find out if it is a power issue or a system issue. So if you are sure it is charged, you can then start with the magic key combinations upon startup to see if it will boot in the safe mode or recovery. All info is on internet. The model name should be on the bottom of your macbook.
It is getting power as the thunderbolt charger indicator appears green when its plugged in the port. There are no lights of any type visible on the machine during charging.
