Is it bad to put an SSD on top of the M1 Mac mini?

I was wondering if it was bad to put an SSD on top of the M1 Mac mini; Because I was looking at this SSD (https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00114780) and the cable is really short and I was wondering if it was bad to put it on top.

Booting M1/M2 Mac mini from an external bootable USB 3.0 SSD There is no way I would pay the ridiculously inflated prices for more RAM or storage so my only choice is the base model. The main concern I have about the base model Mac mini is the 8GB RAM necessitating a lot of swapping when using apps like Final Cut Pro. I am not bothered by the small 256GB SSD as I already have 3 USB 3.0 SSDs totalling 2.275GB. I want to know what happens with swap memory if I boot the mini from one of those SSDs. Would the swapping occur on the mini's internal SSD or on the large bootable external SSD? It would be great if it occurred on the large, cheap external SSD but I suspect it may still continue on the overly expensive, irreplaceable internal one. Can anyone clarify the situation for me?

Does an External SSD need to be ejected before shutting down the Mac? I have received today a new 2 TB Crucial X8 External SSD. I have it attached to my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) via a powered USB 3 hub. Do I need to eject the X8 before I shut down my iMac?

It is never a good idea to set electronic devices too close to displays and batteries. All of them can suffer some influence/interference of the other and behave oddly. Displays are well known for suffering from it.

If possible, just leave it beside the Mac and everything will be OK.

For transporting, prefer to put it in contact with the bottom case or in another part of the bag.

FWIW, since it has a separate cable, just get a longer cable.
