how to check if a seller is authorised by apple?
(I purchased a new iphone from a seller that claims to be authorised but provided me with a receipt by a different name and I am also unable to find that seller's information online)

Okay so I just did find the shop on locate.apple.com but the there is still the issue of there being a different shop name on the receipt. And thank you, I have sent an email using Apple Support, hopefully they will be able to help resolve this.
Yes I did that. Apparently all of their branches print receipts by a different name which is what they used, to initially register, however their patent is by the name which reflects on Apple's website.
More than likely, the reseller that you are/were dealing with is not an Authorized Retailer. You can ➔ Apple Support and get ask them to verify.
