Why is this happening?

I have an iPad Air 4th generation, and it has been working wonderfully, however, sometimes when I hold down the buttons to turn it off, it will completely skip the “power off” slider and bring me to a black and magenta screen, before turning off. Sadly, it was too quick for me to get a photo of. What is this from, and how do I fix it?

You can also turn it off going to Settings>General>Shut Down (last option at the very bottom).
