Recovery Mode

I was attempting to back up my iPhone 7 to my MacBook as I was wanting to transfer all my of data onto a new phone. I tried to update my phone whilst connected to my computer and it failed halfway through. It left my screen with the charger symbol and the iTunes icon displayed and it seems my only option is to restore my phone. As I have not backed up my phone before, I know that if I do this, I will loose all of my photos/data. Is there anyway I can get out of recovery mode without restoring my phone?
