Will the printer Canon MG 7720 operate on new MacBook air?

As long as your MG7720 printer is networked (wired/wireless) it is supported by the built-in Apple AirPrint driver in Big Sur. No Canon drivers or software are necessary.
With the device powered, visit System Preferences > Printers & Scanners panel, and if the MG7720 is present, right-click on it and choose Reset printing system… from the secondary menu. If it is not in the Printers list yet, click the + button. and Bonjour will discover the printer on the network. Click on the device entry, there will be a brief pause, and then the Use: selector will switch to AirPrint. Click Add. Now you can do a test print.
