Encrypted files and Time Machine

My question is: do encrypted folders/files backup with Time Machine? I have a couple of important folders with files that are encrypted using Disk Utilities (.dmg images), do these get backed up with Time Machine? Thank you!

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of backing up information quickly? I don't have long gaps in my schedule to let time machine languor reiterating over and over each and every file again and again. Why can't there be an option for a simple backup password to open the time machine disc and leave the files alone? This security stuff is unbelievable and out of hand.

Time Machine is backing up an encrypted disk and an unencrypted disk what does it mean when it says my time machine is backing up an encrypted diskt an unencrypted disk? I don't remember encrypting my initial backups to begin with. Also, will this somehow mess up the previous backups on the disk. P.S. all backups go onto my external hd. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Yes they do get backed up, the backup has an identical copy of the original.
