Hello I am trying to get out of cable television, is Apple TV something that it could replace my tv programming?

For live TV (ABC, NBC, etc), you will likely need a TV provider subscription, somewhat similar to cable. For the US: Hulu Live, YouTube TV, Sling TV, AT&T TV Now, Fubo TV, Philo offer bundles of channels to be streamed over the internet (no cable needed).

Apple TV is an Internet Streaming device, the content is not free however many are using it to replace their cable or satellite costs as you don' t have to buy packages of channels you do not want like you do with cable TV or satellite TV. I'd suggest that you look over www.apple.com/tv. You may want to simply visit an Apple Store or reseller to ask more about the type of content that is available, there are literally thousands of apps available.
