Same problem w/JBL Flip 4 Mac and MacBook Pro w/M1 chip, it's discouraging because like someone else explained above it works w/my iPhone and sounds great, I'd love to be able to use it w/my MBP, I may have to save up and invest in an Apple Blue tooth speaker.
