What happened to my itunes library when I got new phone?

It is on your old phone and in any iTunes/Music library you might have on a computer. Music isn't included in device backups. When you sign into your Apple ID on an iPhone you should see your unhidden purchase history, or your iCloud Music Library if you have a subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match. Any other content would need to be transferred from a computer.

My itunes library didn't transfer to new phone. Am I correct that I need to subscribe to apple music or itunes match to listen to music that I have already bought and paid for?
