How to back up my Apple Music library on iPhone

A dozen or more music purchases I made over the last 10 years are no longer on iTunes. When I upgraded to a new phone they would not transfer from my back up to to new phone. I subscribed to Apple Music and tried to back up my music library from the old phone but the music tracks still do not download to the new phone. When I called Apple support they told me there is nothing they can do.

Can't Apple give me a credit to the iTunes store when this happens? I don't want any money back but I do want to be able to replace the songs I purchased with spending a few hundred dollars to do so.

Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple - https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/us/terms.html - "DOWNLOADS You may be able to redownload previously acquired Content (“Redownload”) to your devices that are signed in with the same Apple ID (“Associated Devices”). You can see Content types available for Redownload in your Home Country at https://support.apple.com/HT204632. Content may not be available for Redownload if that Content is no longer offered on our Services."

Always download everything to your computer and keep multiple backup copies on local storage.

As I said, I don't work for Apple. Whether or not an item is still in the store depends upon the media owners.

40 year ago I bought a "lifetime of car" alignment warranty. I still own the car but the company sold out to another one and all they offer me is a 10% price cut on a full charge alignment. That's the way things go.

I know the legal agreement doesn't help but it does outline Apple's position. If you wish t o let them know how you feel:

I downloaded to my computer and backed up the music library to Apple Music, not working. I am signed in with the same Apple ID. But honestly how much effort should one need to expend? If I do a full backup of my phone to iCloud and iTunes on the computer isn't that enough? The issue is not backups, the issue is removal of access to the content. I can back it up all day but if Apple does not allow the content on my phone restore its all wasted effort.

That legal agreement info does not help my situation and I suspect thousands of others' situations.

What is wrong with giving a store credit for content I purchased that was later made unavailable to me? Since Apple has no way to guarantee permanence to a purchase they should offer compensation.
