Sound fading in/out

Hi everyone!

I can't remember when this problem started but it's been a long while and it's just now starting to annoy me. Basically, any time I'm watching a video the audio fades out and fades back in after a few seconds. I can't recall it ever happening when I'm using Apple Music, but it happens quite often during YouTube / Instagram videos. I use two different pairs of wireless headphones but the problem can't be them because it happens even when using the phone speaker and I have no issues when using my headphones with other devices. My internet connection also doesn't seem to be the problem because the video will keep playing while the audio just stops for a few seconds.

I first tried resetting my settings (from the suggestion of a friend), that didn't work. I've uninstalled/reinstalled my apps, but that was also a waste of time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Does this happen on a regular basis, in other words, like every 1 or 2 minutes? Is it possible that you have received a notification while watching this video. Receiving a notification would fade out the audio to play the notification, and then fade back in again.

I wouldn't call it regular as in every 1-2 minutes. I'm not sure I can say it happens every single day, but it happens often enough that I'm sort of used to it (though it is still annoying). There doesn't seem to be any consistency to it. There are days where I could go through like 15 short Instagram videos in a row, or a longer 20+ minute YouTube video, and nothing will happen. Then there are days where it happens after every few short videos or some point during the longer videos. It's not the video itself because I can restart/rewind and it'll be fine.

I'm also not sure if it's a notification thing because I have it set to show the little banner at the top, but I've never noticed the banner when the audio cuts, and if I swipe down I won't see anything in my notification center. This might be a stupid question, but is it possible to get a notification that doesn't show up but still disrupts the audio?

Edit: okay, so I've had a couple of YouTube videos playing for the past 20-30 minutes while I'm getting regular discord notifications and they don't seem to be disrupting the audio.

Thank you for that. I cannot see that you would get a notification that would not appear. Other than that, I cannot think of any other reason for the sound to go away temporarily like that.
