give permission to an app to control another app

in Security & Privacy > Automation I need to allow an app to control another app, but it doesn't show up, I'm not getting the dialog to allow it, and I don't seem to be able to add it manually. I know that because it worked on a different computer. Any suggestions?

thanks

Alex

thanks, well, the app didn't show up at all in automation, but I found out it's a glitch in the app and an update would do the trick. My particular case is with Filemaker sending emails via the mail app, and I discovered i wasn't the only one... :-) as usual

I guess there's always something to learn.

Hey there AlDan,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having issues with allowing a certain app to control another app on your Mac. We’ll be happy to provide you with some info on this.

This feature will not work with all apps. Take a look at this article for more info:

Allow apps to control other apps on Mac

When this worked on your other computer, was it on a previous version of macOS? You may also need to check the Privacy preferences as well:

Change Privacy preferences on Mac

We hope this helps. Take care.
