iTunes not recognizing iPhone 12 Pro nor 12 Mini

Before you yell at me to look at the other threads, I did.

Macbook pro mid 2010

Updated to Sierra 10.12.6

iTunes 12.8.2.3

No further updates available for my computer in the App Store. I did whatever was available to me.

System report shows "iPhone" when connected to either USB port

Tried both ports in iTunes, doesn't register

Tried 3 different cables- apple, amazon, & generic-er

restarted iTunes both while connected to iPhone and disconnected

restarted iPhone while connected to iTunes, restarted computer

When I say "restart" I mean I tried multiple times for each step

reinstalled iTunes latest version

got the "trust this computer?" question and hit trust

image capture & photos both recognize phone and can see photos

Previous iPhone 8 is still recognized

I THINK this is it for the fixes I tried.

What's next?

Thanks in advance

For iOS 14 you need iTunes 12.8.2.3 or better running on OS X 10.11.6 or better. See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support if required.

Assuming a suitable version of iTunes is in place then in Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

If these steps haven't worked you can also try reinstalling iTunes 12.8.2.3 while your device is connected and unlocked.

Hi Turingtest2, thanks for your response.

I had already seen this post from you before and tried it. Just like the other person, double clicking/opening the mobile device updater didn't do anything. It didn't open a program nor prompt me to update any drivers. My OS is already higher than 10.11 and I already have tried reinstalling the newest iTunes while my device is connected and unlocked. Thanks, though.
