Touch ID not working properly on MacBook

Macbook is only almost a year old.

For the past few weeks the main fingerprint ID I use to open MacBook does not work, however a different fingerprint I have programmed may work. Sometimes. Ive tried deleting and re-printing, but the same main one I like to use still does not work for opening MacBook. Once MB is open, I can use fingerprint for logging in though. Ive checked my finger, still the same finger, same print, nothing weird happened to it. K.

Ive tried deleting and reprinting multiple times and yet, it still does not work properly. HALP.

Hi leblackwolf,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. If your MacBook has Touch ID, you can use it to unlock your MacBook, authorize purchases from the iTunes Store, the App Store, and Apple Books, and make purchases on the web using Apple Pay. You can also use Touch ID to sign into some third-party apps. For security, you need to enter your password when you start your Mac. Sometimes you need to enter your password to continue using Touch ID. For example, users must re-enter their password every 48 hours and after five incorrect fingerprint attempts. Check out Use Touch ID on Mac to confirm that the requirements are met and the steps in this link were taken. The link also goes over exactly what this can be used for and when you will need to enter your password.

Have a great day.
