iPad continually restarts

I was using my iPad and plugged it in. It restarted on its own. I see the Apple logo for about a minute. Then the screen goes dark for a few seconds, and the Apple logo reappears.

What steps can I take to get it out of this loop? I now have it unplugged and hope that draining the power will help resolve.

Any suggestions?

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
