How does AppleTV work?

The Apple TV is a streaming appliance that will plug into any TV with an HDMI port. Almost all televisions come with those ports now. You will also need internet access, either WiFi or wired.

If you want to watch YouTube off it, then your need an Apple TV 4 or 4K. Elsewise, YouTube will not run on itself. Apple cancelled that service for Apple TV 3 and before, not so long ago.

As Apple no longer sells the earlier versions of the Apple TV, this shouldn't be too big of an issue.
