Loss of use of email, loss of calendar entries and loss of contacts info

Is this an Apple issue or Microsoft.

I recently lost the ability to open, read or send emails. My son tried to fix it and in the process lost all my calendar entries and all of contact information. I use my IPad for everything and when I purchased it at an Apple store in Vancouver it was set up for me such that I never needed to sign into my email account, it just popped up when I opened my iPad. I am not computer literate and find this so stressful since all my doctors do everything online as well as most other businesses. I have no access to the emails on my iPad and I do everything on my iPad. I would prefer to speak to someone directly.
