I recently attempted to restore my phone to factory status because I was concerned about malware infection. I couldn’t log back into my account because I couldn’t remember my apple password. So I created a new Apple ID. But I lost all my files.

I had to create a new Apple ID to access my account after a reset to factory status, but I lost all my data. Is there a way to recover it through the cloud?

See if you can access the original account. If you forgot the Apple ID password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get an email option if necessary.

You are welcome. Are you in account recovery? The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process. The article below has some suggestions to shorten the the time the process takes.

The only way to reset it instantly is to remember the password and sign into your Apple ID.

Thanks, Eric, I tried that but had to go through the password torture gauntlet of repeated login to nowhere. I have had to go through a waiting period, before I can crack through the apple wall which was built with cannon balls to get access to my own pictures. They just keep saying that it might not really be me. Would a DNA sample help?

I will try again today and let you know how it came out.

Thanks, Tommy
