Hmm, no that is not normal. However, the screen always dims for a few seconds, just before it turns off. See this:

When auto brightness is OFF it should not dim or brighten - but ours does both - with current iOS - on our iPhone SE (but not on our iPhone 12 mini) so it is obviously a bug and sure wish they would fix it.

I cannot say for sure, but I did just notice it recently -so if this was indeed recent, perhaps they introduced a bug in the 14.4.1.

Get with it Apple . . . used to be so good and dependable enough to brag on but no more - come on - fix this already!

This is annoying. All of the sudden the screen started to auto dim even though I have auto brightness shut off. If this cannot be fixed, my next phone just might be a Samsung.

We are all just other Apple users here - no one here could possibly care less if you decide to buy a Samsung.
