iPad connections

i’m getting an iPad Air in a couple days and if I get Wi-Fi only can I use my phone hotspot when I’m not in Wi-Fi range or do I have to get cellular?

Yes, you can use your phone hotspot with a WiFi Only iPad.


However, before making your choice between WiFi Only or WiFi+Cellular, consider whether or not you have need for GPS. WiFi Only models of iPad have no GPS capabilities.


WiFi+Cellular models of iPad do have GPS - and provide flexibility to use Cellular connections should your needs change.
