Older version of Garageband required

I have a second hand iMac (early 2009 intel Core 2 Duo) that was wiped clean before I got it.

It is running El Capitan 10.11.6.

I want to run Garageband but the version in the AppStore won't run on my OS. I think I need Garageband 10.0.3. Is there a download area for older versions?

Thanks,

Dave.

Just remember, that you have to use the fourth tab "Purchases" at the App Store, after you sign in with your AppleID. You should be able to install GarageBand, if it appears in your previous purchases.

You need GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 or Garageband a very early version of Garageband 10. Both versions are only available, if you previously owned GarageBand and it is in your list of previous purchases at the App Store. Then you can get the older versions by reinstalling previous purchases. If you do not yet own an application, and it is not in your purchases, you can only purchase the current version for the current system version, but not for older system versions.

If your brother is a member of your household, you could use your AppleID to download and install Garageband (and other missing earlier apps) on the system for all users. The AppStore licence does allow you to install applications on all Macs you own or control for private use. You may want to create an additional administrator account on that Mac for yourself. Then you do not need to use your AppleID from his account. That should be no problem, as there will never be any updates to be installed for the older applications.
