Is it safe to charge my phone near a microwave?

So, if I have been wanting to get a phone for a while now. I’m very familiar with how to use them, and have even become their tech support. But I have a question.

Is it save to charge a phone under a microwave?

this phone would be charging about a foot and a half below the microwave.

The reason I am asking this, is because my mom had to phones that went defective when being stored near a microwave. One phone was a Samsung galaxy S6, on which the battery stopped spreading correctly, and won’t charge past 89%. And the other was a Galaxy s7, in which I assume the processor is causing this because its constantly restarting itself, is as slow as a fire tablet (slow), and won’t cast to the tv.

so I was just wondering if they were defective, or they were just charging up under the microwave.
